Audiophile Adds German Turntable to Whole-House Music System

Uniquely installed AV system preserves condo's minimalist style

By the looks of this minimalist Miami Beach condo, you’d never guess that its owner has a penchant for high-end audiophile music. Neither is it evident that the master bedroom is his favorite place to watch TV. And surely, this 7,000-square-foot residence isn’t automated. But looks can be deceiving, and this condo pulls it off flawlessly, thanks to the innovative integration of a sophisticated audio and video distribution system, clever installation of flat-panel TVs and the design and installation of a home automation system that can be monitored and managed from the homeowner’s iPad.

Living the High Life in a Smart Penthouse

This luxurious South Florida vacation getaway combines beauty and technology for the ultimate relaxation.  The two-level penthouse tops a technologically-advanced 50-story glass tower with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. All of the rooms within the home—including five bedrooms, a media room, home theater, patio, sauna, office, five eating areas and an expansive kitchen—were outfitted with smart home technology and can be controlled with a simple press of a button.

Everything is unique to this space, from the vertical living home theater to the karaoke system, DJ booth and dance floor, to the non-traditional window treatments that rise from the floor and the vanishing television mirrors for the bathrooms. The integrator, AVA Miami, configured all functions and devices in the penthouse to work in harmony on the Control4 platform. One consistent interface controls it all, seamlessly.

The homeowners enjoy Control4 home automation systems in their other residences, and it was important for them to have the same automated features and functionality in this vacation property too. What’s more, because the owners only occupy the residence for one month of the year, they have the ability to remotely monitor and control their home from afar using 4Sight with Anywhere Access.

“Every single home that I own around the world has Control4. I love it.”

Residential Systems: Guitar Collector Builds a Rock Star-Infused Basement Lounge with ELAN g! Control

Guitar aficionado Jack Jackson and his wife Kathleen know how to throw a party–just ask the 80-plus people who attended their 2013 New Year’s bash, held in the new ultra-trendy basement lounge in their Hunterdon County, NJ, home. The Jackson’s “basement” can go toe-to-toe with any posh Manhattan nightclub thanks to its custom built bar, LED lighting accents, lounge area with a wraparound leather sofa, electric fireplace, 120-bottle wine cellar, “pillar of fire” column with drink rests, a smoke machine, and laser lights. But according to Jackson, the icing on this mini nightclub’s cake is something that’s vital for a long night of partying–the room’s lighting, three TVs and two zones of audio are all super easy to control right from an iPad through the ELAN g! entertainment and control system.

Local custom integrator, 360 Media Innovations, installed the ELAN g! system, in-ceiling speakers, wall-mounted TVs, and integrated lighting.
